Use your own domain

Put your passes, booking pages and other visitor pages on an address of your own, such as visit.voltabank.example, on Starter and above, with one DNS record and the certificate handled for you.

Early access· P4For owners and admins

Agoo is in early access. This page describes the feature as it ships to early-access organisations; screens are illustrative.

Every organisation's visitor pages live on its Agoo address, such as voltabank.agoo.ardent.africa. On paid plans you can put them on an address of your own instead, such as visit.voltabank.example or book.voltabank.example, so the links your visitors get carry your name from start to finish.

Your own domain covers all your visitor pages: passes, booking pages and the links to manage a booking, your request page, self check-in from posters, approval links and roll-call pages.

Before you start

  • Who: Owners and Admins set it up.
  • A domain you own, and access to its DNS settings, or someone who has it: your IT team, your web designer or the company you bought the domain from. Agoo never needs access to your DNS.
  • A subdomain: choose one that isn't used for anything else, such as visit., book. or welcome. in front of your domain. The domain on its own, such as voltabank.example, can't be used: it usually carries your website and email, and it can't take the record Agoo needs.
  • Agoo's own addresses, such as anything ending in agoo.ardent.africa or agoo.click, can't be used.

Connect your domain

Open Settings → Domains

Go to Console → Settings → Domains. Under your visitor and booking pages, enter the address you want, such as visit.voltabank.example, and add it. Its status is Pending while Agoo waits for your DNS record.

Add one DNS record

At your DNS provider, add a CNAME record:

TypeName (or host)Target (or value, points to)
CNAMEvisit (the part before your own domain)domains.agoo.click

Many providers add your domain to the name for you, so enter visit, not visit.voltabank.example. If the Console also shows TXT records, to prove the domain is yours or for its certificate, add each of them too, exactly as shown.

Let Agoo check it

Agoo checks your record automatically. DNS changes usually show within minutes but can take a few hours. To check straight away, select Check now.

When the record is found, Agoo issues the security certificate for your domain, so your pages open over https://, and renews it automatically. The status becomes Active, and Owners and Admins are emailed that it's connected.

Try it

Open a page on your domain, such as https://visit.voltabank.example/book, or send yourself a test invitation and open the pass.

StatusMeans
PendingAgoo is waiting to find your DNS record and issue the certificate.
ActiveYour domain is connected, and new links use it.
FailedAgoo couldn't verify it, and says why. Fix the record at your DNS provider and select Check now. Owners and Admins are emailed when it fails.

What changes when it's active

  • New links use your domain: in invitations, passes, booking confirmations and reminders, approval links and the other messages Agoo sends, on booking pages' Copy link, and in the website snippet.
  • Your Agoo address keeps working. Links already sent with it, and your Agoo address itself, open the same pages as before.
  • Tracked QR codes keep their short link on agoo.click (or your own short-link domain on Pro and Enterprise), and still open your pages when they're scanned. Nothing needs reprinting.
  • Your branding stays as your plan allows, on every page.

If you've put a booking page on your website, copy its snippet again to use your domain; the old snippet keeps working. If your website has a Content Security Policy, allow frames from both addresses.

Remove or change it

To use a different address, remove your domain and add the new one. Owners and Admins remove it in Console → Settings → Domains. New links go back to your Agoo address straight away. Then delete the CNAME record at your DNS provider.

Links already sent with your domain need it

Passes and links already sent with your domain open only while it points at Agoo. Before you remove it, send passes for upcoming visits again: they then use your Agoo address.

On a plan without it

If your organisation moves to Free, your domain stays connected but stops being used for new links. Messages and new links use your Agoo address, and anyone who opens a link on your domain is sent to the same page on your Agoo address, so nothing already sent or printed breaks. Keep the DNS record in place for that. Move back to a paid plan and your domain is used again.
